1. So, whenever I try to update my kindle (kindle 3 wifi, 3.3 611680021), it says there was an error (Uoo4). Anything i can do to fix this? I have tried 10.n and this jailbreak and cannot seem to jailbreak it.

2. Note that the naming scheme on the jailbreak files is different for the 0.5.1.
   (from the readme)

   k2 = Kindle 2 US
   k2i = Kindle 2 International
   dx = Kindle DX US
   dxi = Kindle DX International
   dxg = Kindle DX Graphite
   k3g = Kindle 3 Wifi + 3G (US & Canada)
   k3gb = Kindle 3 Wifi + 3G (Elsewhere)
   k3w = Kindle 3 Wifi

3. I’m having troubles trying to use your jailbreak (0.5.1) on a vanilla Kindle 2 US. I’m on version 2.5.8.

   After copying over update_jailbreak_0.5.1_k2_install.bin to the root folder, the option to “update your kindle” from Settings screen remains grayed out. I tried a force restart, and am getting a failure (error code 0003). It appears my Kindle is rejecting this file. Any ideas on what I can do to get it working?

4. Never mind, I just dumped all the update files into the root instead : ) The k2i version took, though I have a US kindle (?).

5. Like Barry above, I have Kindle OS 3.3 on a Kindle Keyboard, 3g + wifi, and when I try either jailbreak, I get the U004 error code. Will there be an updated jailbreak for OS 3.3?

6. Hi there! I tried to install 0.5.1 version on my Kindle 3 WiFi with 3.2.1 software, and the update successfuly installed, BUT – it didn’t make anything. Maybe I just don’t understand what for is this jailbreak, but I supposed that it has to remove all this special offers. And besides – is there any way to force Kindle to NOT change screensavers when sleeping? It just eats battery

7. Is this jailbreak works for a kindle 3 that has 3.3 firmware version and it was never jailbreaked before?
   And how can I know if I have a

   k3g = Kindle 3 Wifi + 3G (US & Canada)
   or

   k3gb = Kindle 3 Wifi + 3G (Elsewhere) ?

9. I cant jailbreak my KK3G US.
   On the first week I did the firmw. update to 3.3.
   I have read mobilereadforum and I could not change the screensaver follow the steps:
   – 0.10N 3G
   -0.25N
   I could not change screens so…
   I used
   -0.10 3.2.1 3G + 0.25N
   still not changed.
   so can someone explain how to jailbreake and change 3.3?

13. Just jb and installed latest ss update, first time, on K3gKbrd/US, ver 3.3. Went well. But old ss’s come up. Your you-can-delete-me ss is there. Have read for hours. So sorry – cannot find an answer. Thank you very much!

14. Solved problem after many days. Downloads via Opera were problematic, at least on my computer. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Once I downloaded updates via Firefox, everything worked beautifully, the first time. Hopefully this will help someone who might encounter this strange circumstance.

16. it worked it worked it worked i have a kindle 3.3w ive tried absolutly everything but this worked finally i reset to factory defaults and updated with the 3.3w file in my kindle simple stupid simple

17. Did not work on my Kindle 3 Version 3.3.
    I did not do a factory reset as rather not, unless this is essential stage ?
    Please put a txt file with zip file to explain difference between k3 and k3i files. Tried both anyway

19. I’ve got the right file for my kindle 3 wifi, 3.3 611680021 (UK version) and every time I try to update I get the error code U004.
    What is this and how do I fix it?

20. I’m right there with all the u004 codes. There does not seem to be anything I can do to get around it. As yet that is.

21. Baash05, I downloaded and installed the 1.2.3 version after all the U004 codes and then it worked fine. Try that.

22. If I did jail break my kindle keyboard 3.3, how can I UN-jailbreak it?

23. Guys, if you’re running 3.3 and are having problems with the u00x errors then try installing the relevant 3.2.1 image from here – http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Screen_Saver_Hack_for_all_2.x_and_3.x_Kindles

    Worked for me.

24. BIIIIIG 10-4 on that Pullen – worked for me too! I have K3 3.3 US and I used ‘update_jailbreak_0.10.N_k3g-3.2.1_install.bin’ – no errors, successful updates – Bob’s your uncle (yes, I’m in the US). I have installed the SS update and it created the folders etc. The 3.2.1 update works for 3.3!!

25. I have a Kindle DX B005A and ver 2.5.8 and can’t seem to get the dxi file to install. I can update off kindle but mid update says error updating restarting then i don’t see any files in there nor anything changed. Anyone have any idea?

    Wanted to include logfile- but can’t seem to find it (or references to it online- any help?)

28. Alright,so I tryed doing this and first, it didnt work. Then I did the ENABLE_DIAGS thing, and now I cant get out of diagnostics.I tryed pushing the Disable Diagnostics button,but it says “device.info.xml not found.”Please help.

34. Thanks very much — the early version of jailbreak seemed to install successfully on my DXG with FW 2.5.8 loaded. However, there appears to be no change to the device. Can you tell me where I can access and change the screensaver images?

40. I transfered update_jailbreak_0.5.1_dxi_install.bin to my international Kindle DX which has the latest 2.5.8 software update on it. NOTHING CHANGED on the device. I opened a PDF – I still cannot move the cursor within the document and I cannot highlight text.

    Should I download, transfer and update the latest software update from Amazon AFTER I run the jailbreak?

    AM I MISSING SOMETHING ELSE?

42. UPDATE on my efforts to make this work: I have the white Kindle DX (international). I tried installing both versions 0.4 and 0.5.1 of the jailbreak and then tried to update to versions 3.1 and 3.3 of the Kindle DX for Europe. The BIN files are not recognized by Kindle, i.e. the update menu item is dimmed out.

    ANY IDEAS?

43. Which version is last to work on Kindle DX 2?

    I use 3.2.1 on Kindle DX (white/international). Does 3.3 work for anyone? And if, anyone tried to install 3.4 on top of 3.3 as suggested by Amazon for their Kindle 3 Keyboard official firmware?
